Sanji beats Killingham
One Piece Chapter 1198 picks up right where Chapter 1197 stopped, with Sanji’s newly awakened Conqueror’s Haki. Sanji shatters the Omen armor that only Conqueror’s Haki can break and sends Killingham flying. The immortal Holy Knight does not keep fighting: he flees in fear, the same way Sommers ran from Zoro.
That is close to what we expected in our Chapter 1198 predictions: Sanji won with Conqueror’s Haki in his legs. The surprise is that Killingham is not destroyed, he escapes. As he runs, he senses Imu’s Haki.
Zaza lets the children go
Zaza, the giant Rain God that Killingham created with his Devil Fruit, stretches toward the ship, cuts off one of her own arms and throws the kidnapped children of Elbaph on board. The children are safe, but Zaza is still on the island.
Imu’s third form and Loki’s defeat
Elsewhere, Imu transforms again, into a third form: an enormous creature with an elongated torso, a long neck and huge horns. Leakers say it looks the most like the devil painted on the Harley mural of any form so far, but the leaks only describe its outline.
Loki finally fights in his full hybrid Zoan form. Imu asks him about Elbaph’s ancient technology; Loki says he knows nothing about it. Imu admits Loki is strong, then beats him with one powerful blow.
Loki also says he never expected Luffy to run away in the middle of the fight. Imu then says he has to go back to Mary Geoise soon, or his life will be in danger, and turns his attention to Luffy.
Luffy’s new form explained
So where did Luffy go? In the giants’ village, Gaban and Usopp wonder why he suddenly ran off. Gaban says: “That kid… he’s a Zoan-type.”
Then Luffy appears on a rooftop, watching Zaza, in a form never seen before:
- black hair;
- a large, ape-like nose;
- a tail;
- fangs.
He jumps onto Zaza, grabs her and bites her water body, which explodes. The giants watching shout: “Who the hell is that?!” According to the leaks, Luffy only makes animal-like noises in this form and does not speak.
What is it? The chapter does not name the form. Luffy’s fruit, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is a Mythical Zoan, and Gaban’s line points to a Zoan transformation. One well-known leaker reads it as an “incomplete” version of the fruit’s power, but that is an interpretation, not something the chapter says. On Reddit, fans have already nicknamed it “Gear Death”, a joke, not an official name.
Is there a break after One Piece Chapter 1198?
Yes. The leaks say One Piece Chapter 1198 is followed by a break week, so there will be no new chapter the week after. We will add the exact date of Chapter 1199 as soon as Shonen Jump confirms it.
Where the Chapter 1198 spoilers come from
